Messi breaks the record for the most goals in the top European national championships, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo.

On the evening of May 27th, Messi opened the scoring as PSG drew 1-1 with Strasbourg. The Argentine forward scored his 496th goal in the top European national championships, surpassing Ronaldo’s record by one goal.

Messi’s record includes 474 goals in La Liga and 22 goals in Ligue 1. The 474 goals in La Liga are also a record in itself. On the other hand, Ronaldo has scored 311 goals in La Liga, 81 goals in Serie A, and 103 goals in the Premier League. The top European national championships include the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and Ligue 1. Both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the top strikers in the world.

With the draw against Strasbourg, PSG secured their second consecutive Ligue 1 title. Messi and his teammates are leading the league with 85 points after 37 matches, four points ahead of second-placed Lens going into the final round.

Alves is no longer playing football. The 40-year-old defender is facing allegations of sexual assault. In January of this year, the Catalan police in Spain arrested Alves and denied him bail.

Messi is likely to leave PSG in the summer transfer window. His contract with the club is nearing expiration. The 35-year-old forward is considering a return to Barcelona, a move to Saudi Arabia, or a move to the United States.
